Three ABYC Courses Being Offered in January
December 21, 2005, Edgewater, MD The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is now accepting registrations for all 2006 courses including the following three that are scheduled to begin early in the new year:
- Basic Marine Engines — January 9 – 11, 2005 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This three-day program is designed to cover the essentials of both gasoline and diesel fueled engines and related systems. Participants will learn the basics for troubleshooting, maintaining and installing marine engines. This course is an excellent prerequisite for mastering the practical elements for either of the ABYC Engine Certifications.
- Marine Corrosion Certification – January 10 - 13, 2006 in Annapolis, MD. This four-day course discusses metal corrosion as it pertains to the design, construction, repair and maintenance of boats. Topics such as corrosion control methods and applications, paint and surface finishes, metal selection, methodology for performing a corrosion survey and failure analysis and trouble-shooting electrical systems will be covered in this course. The course concludes with a 200 question certification exam.
- Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification — January 12 – 13 2005 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This two-day course follows the three-day Basic Engines course. The following systems are covered in this course as they pertain to gasoline engines: cooling, electrical, exhaust, electrical, control, fuel, ignition, ventilations and drive. This course concludes with a 200 question certification exam.
Those who attend both the Basic Marine Engines and the Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification, can receive an $85 discount.
